Moe Yun Gyi Wet Land

Moe Yun Gyi Wet Land is an ancient city of 9th to 13th century and located in the middle of Dry zone in central Myanmar. It lies in the vast expanse of plains in Upper Myanmar on the bend of the Ayeyarwaddy River. There are over 10,000 Buddhist temples, pagodas and monasteries were constructed in the Bagan plains alone, of which the remains of over 2,200 temples and pagodas still survive to the present day. There are 6 endemic bird species we can find around the dry fields and surrounding ancient temples and pagodas in Bagan. They are Hooded Treepie, Jerdon’s Minivet (split from White-bellied Minivet), White-throated Babbler, Burmese Collared Dove, Ayeyarwady Bulbul, Burmese Bushlark. The other near-endemic and interesting birds such as Vinous-breasted Myna, Plain-backed Sparrow, Burmese Shrike, Spotted Owlet, Yellow-eyed Babbler, Brown Prinia, Laggar Falcon are also worthwhile to see. In the Ayeyarwaddy River, White-tailed Stonechat, Sand Lark, Striated Babbler, Red Avadavat, Long-billed Pipit, Spot-billed Duck, River Lapwing, River Tern and many more species are to put on your list.
